She is a discreet girl and I enjoy her company and she is unique in my eyes.

just keep doing whatever you're doing. if things get better between you guys and you end up hitting it off, that's great. if you guy's become nothing more than friends, just be happy that you still have her as a friend.

The first time around you can make it even less then a date. Ask her to sit and have lunch or whatever with you and take it from there. If you've been that route you should find something she is interested in you could offer to take her to. Make it casual as you can the first time. If she says no you can act like it was no biggy and you can wait until the friendship expands if it does.
