:: Morning ::

The word morning referred originally to the sunrise, but has been extended to mean the whole early part of the day, from dawn to noon. Often the start of morning is extended before dawn, this time is considered the small hours (wee small hours) of the morning, so it can come to mean midnight to midday (in cultures using the 12-hour clock, these hours are ante meridiem, A.M., a.m., or am). Morning precedes midday, afternoon, and night in a day. Time-wise, though, the "morning" is often defined as from 5 am to 12 noon.

:: Evening ::

Informally, the evening is the period in which the daylight is decreasing, between the late afternoon and night; it extends from the latter portion of the daylight (before sunset) until dark (after sunset). Typically between 5 and 11 pm. Euphemistically the evening is also the latter part of a person's life.

When you work in customer service, 95% of people give you funny looks when you say "good morning" after about 11 am, and when you say "good evening" before 6 pm. And since (as every dictionary expert will tell you) definitions are made, edited and unmade solely by the words' usage in society, I find this to be acccurate enough. I guess the appropriate greeting for the time in between is just "hello".

Morning Christian prayers at daybreak used to mark the beginning of what was considered to be the start of morning. The word "morning" means "twinkle" or "shimmer" . . .of daybreak. The vesper prayer at six p.m. once marked what was considered to be the start of evening. Vesper is an old Latin word for "evening". So, morning started when the sun rose. But, evening didn't necessarily start at sunset as one would expect. And, we wonder why most Christian can't pass a nature-based reality test. (crchase above has it right for today's world.)

It really depends on how you define 'Evening' and 'Morning'...

Say, if it's defined according to sunset and sunrise, the exact time of evening and morning would change everyday. You may check your local observatory service for the time.
