Has anyone else noticed the decline in the news service provided by the BBC, they seem to spend most of the time advertising other BBC programmes such as Celebrity Come Dancing, rather than actual news, the weather Presenters seem to have their own show within the news and its all getting a waste of time.
With all the events happening around the world why dont they deal with these rather than the rubbish they cover?
Can you suggest anything we can do to change this?

It's terrible these days, so sick of them advertising programmes and passing it off as genuine news *cough*Panorama*cough*

Newsnight is still fairly watchable though, and I'm quite fond of the Channel 4 news.

Best way to change it is to a)stop watching and b)tell them you've stopped watching, and why.

I agree that some areas are getting a bit naff, but I love the World News, which are on between 5 and 6 am. Don't watch them all the time, but in my opinion the International News area is completely neglected in the UK. The only places where they regularly report on international matters apart from Iraq and Afghanistan is the Today Program, the World News and the Economist magazine. Unfortunately I have got very little time for reading and therefore I love to watch and listen to the BBC when I can.

I agree with this. Maybe they could spice it up a la Canada and do it like Naked News. Just think, Fiona Bruce and Natasha Kaplinsky reading it in the buff. Mmm.The downside would be having to see Hue Edwards and his pals also in the raw.Perhaps not such a good idea.
Seriously though, I think the you've raised some valid points but missed that BBC is very biased politically, when it should be neutral, and that for me is totally wrong.

I live abroad a lot,, If you think the BBC is bad, try some of the stuff other countries have to put up with. I promise, I really do promise, you will cease to complain about the BBC. I have been in most SE Asian countries and its just Governmrnt controlled propaganda. LONG LIVE THE BBC. Especially the BBC World Service. The Natasha Kaplinsky idea has a LOT of merit

I listen the BBC news on the Radio. I never watch TV (except Torchwood of course) because there are so few things worth watching these days.

It is desperation.
More people are looking at a pc than TV.
TV has been dumbed-down so much that even those it was done for are switching off, or not switching on in the first place.
TV is no longer king.
When it is good it is very good but most of the time it is awful.

It's not the news service that's had its day - just the news itself. Always the same mix of muggings, deaths & celebrity court cases.

'Cos we are meant to make certain Israelis as sufferers(witch they do no longer look to be!!!!!!!!!!!).Everytime an Israeli is killed with the help of a Palestinian it can be a international tragedy, yet while it occurs any incorrect way around it is not considerable, top?a minimum of no longer so considerable to be shown off to television.
