I don't think its Micheal Vick's fault. Those who are over-critical of him are just reacting to the media hype machine that a few years ago built him up to be an emerging superstar of Micheal Jordon proportions. I'd say most NFL fans found that the hype didn't ring true and was unearned by enough solid accomplishments on the field so they resented Vick for it. Turns out he (so far) is "just" a great athlete and one of the better current NFL quarterbacks. Some of that "hate" for him will likely always linger even though the hype machine has moved on to other targets.

I criticize Michael Vick b/c he is a RB/WR playing at the QB position. He is not a good QB at all, he is just a good runner, and running QB's have never prevailed in the NFL and never will (unless he's a phenom and can do both very well). Real QB's jobs are to throw the ball downfield, RB's jobs are to run the ball. Its not hard to run the ball as a QB and everyone praises him for it. So what he's fast??? So are most NFL players excluding offensive lineman. Most players could do what Vick is doing. You run a pass play and drop back and let the receivers spread the defense out and then start running and gain 8-12 yds, it doesnt take talent to run the ball when no one is around and the defense is all spread out. It takes talent to run the ball through DLinemen, LB's, and then the secondary. Not to run around after ur WR's spread the field for you.
He has a good game every now and again, like 1 a year, through the air. So what? He passes for like 150 ypg, dead last in the NFL. How can you call a guy who is dead last in the NFL in passing (among starters) a great QB??? If you install the right D he is easily stopped. EASILY. Just ask the Buccaneers who have always stopped him.

Among actual football fans, (verses some of the idiots posting answers here) it would have to be his inconsistency as a passer. Sure he's a great athlete and a spectacular runner, but if the defense figures out that you can't pass worth a sh*it, you are not going to be a very effective quarterback.
It really looks like Atlanta has been seriously working on THAT exact problem and if last Sunday's game against the Steelers is an indication of a "new and improved" Michael Vick, then the Falcons are going to be a difficult team to beat this year!

Everyone thinks Michael Vick is a great QB. He's even been rated a top 5 QB. He's an incredible athlete and would make an outstanding running back, but he's only a mediocre quarterback. What's he doing when he's not running? Not much.

I think it is an Atlanta thing, the falcons have been lousy for a long time until Mike Vick came along. Also, he has family members that have been in a lot of trouble. The big problem is that he carries a whole team on his back, same as Brett Favre, so when he has a bad game the whole team has a bad game and guess who gets the blame. He had a hell of a good week this week!!

If he could play a whole season the way he played against the Steelers then people wouldn't jump on his case so much. Face it people acted like he would be the next Randell Cunningham, at least those who still remember who he was, yet Cunnungham COULD PASS and was darn good at his game. Vick was such a start in College and it hasn't seemed to really carry over.

I don't know. People hate for different reasons. I'm a Bears fan and everyone hates on them all of a sudden. No one hates the Colts or Pats as much recently.
I like Vick. People play the "overrated" card when he has a bad game, but I can tell you no decent coach or player ever underestimates him.

I think it is because he has been given the 'Superstar QB" label by some fans. He has really done nothing to deserve such a label. He is a great athlete trying to play QB. He is a long way from being even an above average QB.

In the last week there's been a lot of criticism of him because he said he wanted to go up to Indi and play with their team for a week to work with their coach. He's starting to get a TO-esque mouth and I think a lot of people are irritated by that. And they say that he can't do anything out of the pocket. Or was it in the pocket? I can't really remember (too early in the morning). But they say he makes really bad decisions when he isn't running the ball himself.

1. Cause he has a 100 million dollar contract and doesn't throw the ball very well.
2. He's made the Falcons completely one dimensional.
3. Ron Mexico
