Not sure what "sound makes the medium to travel" means.
If you want to demonstrate that sound needs a medium to travel through, one of the best experiments is to find a container that can hold a vacuum without collapsing, a little vacuum pump and something that makes noise, like a bell or a speaker. You put the noise maker in the container, seal it and start pumping the air out. The volume of the noise going down demonstrates the fact that the the sound needs the air as a medium.
To demonstrate that sound moves at different speeds through different mediums would take a pretty fancy setup to measure the speeds.
