My brother went to the 1st war in Iraq 1991. He was 18 then and in perfect shape, played football in school. He came back with a collapsed lung, problems with almost all of his internal organs. Two of his friends that served with him had babies with serious birth defects a year after returning to the USA. For instance, one of the babies was born without a brain. My brother asked the goverment for help with his medical problems, for compensation. Fifteen years later, he has gotten NOTHING at all. What a way to care for the people that put their lives in the line for their country!! I hear things now in this Iraqi war are not much better for the soldiers. I guess somethings never change. I feel terrible for them and angry for those who died without proper protective gear and for those who come back mutilated and with shattered minds and bodies.
I support our soldiers and their families, but I do not support this senless war, or the idiotic way the US government is running it and how the US government cares so little for the lives or well being of our soldiers. Shame, shame, shame!

My Dad has been to Germany, Korea, Kuwait, Belize, Panama, Japan, and Iraq twice. The 2nd time he went to Iraq was after he retired in 2002. They pulled him out of retirement in 2003 and sent him to Iraq with a 4 hour crash course in Arabic, he is an interrogator so that was highly insufficiant. Also his plane left the day before my 18th birthday and he missed my prom, he made it back just in time to see me graduate high school. He now has an enlarged heart, high blood pressure, and is under testing to see if the biological weapons from Desert Storm did any damage.

HUSBAND is in IRAQ NOW. He's in the Army and this is his 5th deployment. Him and his unit go on 6 months there 4 months home rotations. It sux cuz we haven't had Halloween, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve or Valentines Day together in 5 years. Put it this way our son is now 10 and the last time we had one of those holidays together with him our son was 4. It sux big time

Like your stereotypical soldier/marine who you'd imagine would be straight out of the mid-west with a relentless urge to kill stupid towel-heads, I have a friend who's in the war who wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

He's currently back in The States on leave, and he's gotten MUCH broader perspective on the world, and he has his experiences in Iraq to thank for it. He's smarter, wiser, and generally a greater guy than he was when he left.

Thank you, Gulf War II. Here's to a new government over there that WORKS. :)

I have a few pretty good friends that have been to the middle east several times. One particular fan, his truck was impacted by a roadside bomb and he had to have a lil of his foot cut off. I respect him though and the job our soldiers are doing. Plan on going myself....

My neighbors son has done 2 tours over there already. He isn't the same little kid that use to visit that is for sure. Wish they would all come home though.

Me and my brother.

Marines, my bro is an M.P.

It sucked and it is pointless. Ask any E6 or below in private and they will agree.. ( in private).

I know alot of guys (who got out) from Desert Storm whose immune system is extremely weak since they returned.
