No one knows when your time is up. But when the clock stops, that's it. With that said, I am a smoker and have always joked that "if smoking takes 10 years off my life, then I hope its the 10 years of being in the nursing home, having my diaper changed and my food processed in a blender". Once your hooked, its hard to beat.

They have been smoking for a very long time and have been hooked from before we knew it was bad for everyone health. just because they lived that long doesn't make it OK to smoke but if they "enjoy" smoking let them they have come that far and have done everything they want(hopefully)

back in the days when they were young smoking was very popular because the health risks were unknown. If the were in the war then its very likely they smoked to calm their nerves. You cant take their smokes away because it would kill them. Their bodies are so used to it. Its hard to understand why they havnt got cancer and smoked all their lives.

Ha. I know what you mean. My great-grandfather worked in the coal mines, had black lung, chewed tobacco, ate lard and grease by the fistful, and lived to be 95. Sometimes you just beat the odds.

There is a point where to stop smoking could be more injurious to you. If they didn't smoke they could be living much longer.
