Sounds like your copy of Avast is going out, maybe a virus attacked your antivirus... sounds funny but it does happen.

There may be many reasons for that but teh potentially worrying reason may be that of hijacking of ur antivirus by the spyware n trojans and ur AVAST may not be able to revert back to intial condion (a feature shown by Norton antivirus).

But here is some thing which I think will be much better if u go for it.
Instead of going for AVAST, choose Norton 2005 speacial edition and the updated version. Not just that u will also get much stronger antispyware Lavasoft's Ad-aware. these two will cost u .....nothing. They are free to download from here

http://www.download-googlesearch.blogspot.com/

Its not just that which u get free from there, u will aslo get Mozillas firefox (read the reasns y firefox is better than IE on the same page) and many other software that comes in just one pack(firefox in another pack also listed there)

So dear friend dnt compromise the security of ur system. Go for the best, Im not undermining the capability of AVAST but Norton is proven all around the world and so is the Lavasofts Ad-aware. I m also using the same two products along withthe firefox..Virus free system use and internet surfing.... Indeed.
