Most people will run because of a feeling of inadequecy, in knowing what to say, act or feel.and it makes them feel uncomfortable.
I had cancer also, but if people would just understand that the mere fact that they were just there for you would mean so much.
They may not have all the answers a dying person might ask, but that's ok no one does.
I am sorry if you are going through this alone, I hope your friend some how finds out and will come to you and be the friend you were to him/her.

I somewhat know where you're coming from, but not on the same level. I worked at a building that had mold for 9 months. It broke my body down. I went from benchpressing 250-300 lbs to hardly being able to hold my body up. Again, it's not the same as you because I finally figured it out, after weeding out Multiple sclerosis, Lupus, ... and now I'm fine, since I quit the job. I had the same happen though, where my friends weren't there. I thought I was dying, because I was so sick, it was hard for me to even wash a load of clothes. It's an awful feeling, and I hope you find peace. You have to realize that people, in general, care for you.

i think people run cause they don't really know what they can do for the other person. or maybe they don't feel that they can be strong for the person that is sick and dying. it's hard to ask the question to the fullest. cause every person is different. some people stay beside u and so people just don't. it depends on how they handle sadness. maybe it's hard for them to see the person they love sick and dying. that could be a big reason why. it's hard watching the one u love dying knowing u can't do anything but pray. that's what i feel.

They are afraid. I know you feel lonely. Some people that really love you, can be afraid to lose you so they build up this wall by doing things like running away...because they think it won't hurt as bad when they do lose you.. They don't realize that by doing that...they will hurt more, because they will have regrets about not being there for you when you needed them. I hope they realize what they are doing.
