A popular Windows commercial program is Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing (or something like that.)
With practice, you can increase your speed. Look at me.
I cna tpye at 500 wrds per munite!

Practice is the key. If you have learned typing the wrong way - looking at the keyboard or not using all 10 fingers - then you will need to re-learn the whole thing. There are typing tutor softwares available on the internet that you can download and use for free. Set aside half and hour to one hour daily. Start from the very basics and stick to the regular schedule of practicing EVERY DAY. In a matter of 4-5 months, you will be typing about 60-80 words per minute or more. I know people who do up to 150 wpm.

I learnt to type in chatrooms because you have to interact fast with people or else they lose interest. You can always chat to your friend via messenger etc to get this up to speed.
I had zero skills when I left college, but my typing was quite good and as everyone else has said, with practise you get faster. I went from 35wpm to 55wpm in the space of a couple of years and I never learned to touch type.

a) it sucks, but practice makes perfect (I've played runescape for almost 4 years so I know this from experience)
b) IF your issue is finding keys on the keyboard quickly, you can either buy a program that teaches typing, or buy Animal Crossing for Gamecube and frequently write letters containing random words to your neighbors (this is where I learned where the letters are on the keyboard quickly)

You need to practice. You need to type a lot. There's some technique you can use to start fast typing, try go to google and write "learn fast typing", you'll be given heaps of links for speed typing.
How about some typing games? Download them at http://www.dirfile.com/freeware/typing-learning.htm for free. You will learn fast typing WHILE you playing those games.

For me, now that I am in college and have to write a lot of papers, I have got faster, so that indicates that practice will help.
I know that a lot of people on here do not seem to like Yahoo games, but occasionally I play on there and I like Typer Shark. That may help as well but is way more fun.
