Some one in the past said it was bad, and instead of finding out what it actually did they made it illeagal. Putting it in the same category as heroin and cocaine at the time.Check out the original "Reefer Madness". You'll see how so many older generations were duped into believing this. These generations are still running congress and the senate. And has the highest percentage of voters. It will be a few generations still before it's legal. Basically you have a plant that is really a weed. It will grow anywhere and in almost any climate. And you don't need a green thumb to grow it. If it was legal it would be really cheap. And it would be next to impossible to control, patent or tax comepletly. Too many people with money don't want it legal. It works on migraines without causing bleeding ulcers like Ibuprofen and asprin. Helps chemo therapy patients with nausea. Helps lower blood preassure by some reports. Works on arthritus. And every one has heard how it helps glucoma. It also helps some eating disorders in the elderly. It has it's side effects like any drug. But I have never heard of any one overdosing on it. While every drug advertised on TV has a wide range of undesirable side effects including death. Makes a decent rope and paper. And a cloth supposedly like linen. Never heard of some one getting stoned and violent. Heard of a lot of drunks getting violent and driving recklessly and killing people. But alchol is a legal drug whose only benefit is putting money into the medical and automotive community in the form of rehab, emergency surgery, liver transplants and car repairs. As well as giving the show COPS some more chase scenes. Almost forgot the funeral business gets a lot of customers becauce of alchol. And you don't even have to drink to be affected by it. Why are alchol and tobacco legal? Why isn't pot? Money to both questions.

I wonder why this subject keeps coming up so much... do we really have that many people looking for crutches? It is outlawed simply because, it is not good for you! You would have to smoke an entire pack of cigarettes to equal the damage done by one toke.

Like the alcoholic, you won't face the problems life sends your way and take the easy way out.. Never did solve anything however.

Just because it has been cultivated for over 8000 years dosn't make it a good thing. Same for the coca plant which produces cocane, toads, and mushrooms (shrooms). Just because it is "natural" it dosn't make it something you should take.

Consider the "all natural" Atropa belladonna - Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade, Conium maculatum - Poison Hemlock, Solanum spp. - Common Nightshade, Black Nightshade, and Zigadenus spp. - Death Camas.

Natural can be deadly.

Simple...at this time, it is not possible to patent things in nature, such as this plant. (Although, there are scientists working on this right now..ie..GM foods, etc.)As someone already said, legalizing it would take away the profit margins of the Pharms! Good 'ol capatilism at work here! When money can be made from it, then and only then will it be legalized.

People misuse it. It affects your personality like alcohol and people don't want to be around someone who is drunk or high. They get really abnoxious. Think they know it all, and irrational.

It's a mind altering drug. Even though you may not see that effect yourself, it is true. Otherwise why would you smoke it?
