hey
turtles are a great idea, if you have the time to comit to them.they start off very small where you can keep them in a warm tank, but they grow to the size of a dinner plate!!so then you'd need to keep them outside, i suggest when they reach that size, buy somesort of plastic bath tub like thing and put it outside with a special outside heater.make it look fun for them with loads rocks and plants and some water in it aswell.the pros of turtles is that they are very loving but the cons are they get VERY big. good luck

yes they are very hard to find. i have two of them which are two months old. they are lovely pets but a lot of responsibility too. have to clean them every two days. feed them proper food. they grow up to be big and can stay alive for 300 years if kept in good condition. they are really adorable. trust me. but u cant cuddle them. all they will do is try to come out of the tank when they see you. that shows that they love and recognise you. they are not the cuddly kind of pets. so think twice before taking a decision.

You didn't mentions what kind of turtles you wanted..Do you want the small ones that live in a tank? Or the kind that live outside in your yard?
I have 6 (3 girls..3 boys). I can go out and say" come and eat" and all 6 make their way to the patio.
I live in Texas so they are easy to find...We have alot of pasture..Try this link. http://www.turtle-tortoise.com/links.html

A) Turtles get bigger, so be prepared for a full sized turtle or turtles.
B) Turtles stink
Good luck in your decision!

it is hard to find turtles nowdays ---get a Reptile magazine, in the back are ads for people who sell turtles and also info about the reptile shows in various states where breeders all come together and sell all sorts of snakes and lizards and turtles, etc.

turtles are easy to take care of but water turtles will bite you because they think your food and turtles dont like being touched a lot and they have to have sunlight to be healthy also they are easily freaked out by water temp change

LOL.... I have looked for a baby turtle also. They aren't sold anymore because they have been found to carry bacteria. My friend found one at a pond. So, I'm sorry to say...I think you will have to find one the good ole fashion way...in NATURE!!! Good Luck!
