The largest reptile in the world is the Komodo Dragon. They can grow up to ten feet long and can only be found on a few small islands in Indonesia.
On these islands they are the top predators and can kill creatures up to the size of large deer. They often catch their prey by biting the animal then following it (sometimes for several days) until the animal is overcome by blood poisoning from the bacteria in the Komodo Dragon's bite.
There's loads of really good websites on Komodo dragon, I've listed a few below for you. You can see tham at quite a few zoos now as they've set up an international breeding programme to try and increase their numbers. London Zoo (UK) recently had Komodo Dragon eggs hatch successfully :)

What? No it isn't. Some snakes can grow to over thirty feet, and as I'm sure you are aware, snakes are reptiles. :-)
The Komodo Dragon is nowhere near the largest reptile.

You know they are poisonous - but it's not poison. It's bacteria - they have so much bacteria in their mouth - one bite will kill you. But it's not their mouth you have to worry about - it's their tail. They whip their prey, the force is so great - one swipe to the back - paralyzed. One swipe to the leg - broken. Then they bite you.
