Because of You once I saw Kelly Clarkson performed it on some award show not long ago. I can't stand to hear this song and I ignore it if I do hear it somewhere because its so sad, true and close to how my parents (mother especially) made me feel. I thought there would be, but there is not one lyric in this song that isn't my childhood views towards her. When your a kid you have no say, therefore its like your memory or emotions don't even exist to some parents like you naturally forget and move on. Kids can sense all kinds of things spoken or unspoken.

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side
So I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust
Not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

By the time I was about, 16, this about summed up how my mother was making me feel, because she mainly talked at me not to me. I avoided so much and did so little in my young life not so much of the pain associated with getting your feelings hurt but the act itself. So many young girls were having babies but barely hiding the stress their mothers put on them from having to be responsible for their child while they were in school or at work they would drop out or leave the house. My mother was my birth control. I couldn't see myself having a child unless I lived in a different state than her and (and were much older, of course)for no reason had to go back and live with her and my child. I would never want her to constantly criticized how I raised my child or treat my child the way she treated me.She never encourage me in anything but I had always tried my hardest to not make mistakes at whatever she would have to know about. But you know everyone makes mistakes. To this day I can't stand for someone who will, for no reason, talk to me in the wrong tone or like I'm stupid but I will gladly let them know it. It just reminds of her. I went through enough of that s h i t. Disagreements she had with my father or her job I would have preferred to not have the anger directed at me. Whenever I did something fun, creative or that made me smile or laugh she would find a way to make me feel bad about it, as if I were an unproductive employee or something. I loved art. I drew a lot NOT occasionally but a lot and after a while I just developed a view that being creative meant you were a lazy person. I got tired of her comments that cut like a knife, so I would only do it when she was asleep or away. When someone commented on how good my art was in her presense I wouldn't know how to respond because it was nothing special to her. I never wanted friends to come to my house but at the same time they were never welcomed, whether she knew them or not. Every friend, classmate or associate I had was "out to ruin me" as far as she was concerned. Inturn I learned that you can't trust anyone. So if there was any event or place that we could go- it wasn't happening. I would come up with last minute excuses for why I couldn't go because it hurt a lot less than being made to feel guilty for having a little fun. I just stayed home. Not because I wanted to be there ( like most people thought) but because I had nowhere to go. We'll that was then. But even now she seems shocked are amazed at what I' m not afraid to do just because she would be. I'm not like her and I refuse to be like her and she sees that but still tries to discourage me from being the way I am- NOT AFRAID to cross that street.

BOB DYLAN, "Things Have Changed"

Because I'm over 50, bitter, still lost, confused, lovelorn, and somehow still proud.

A worried man with a worried mind
No one in front of me and nothing behind
There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne
Got white skin, got assassin's eyes
I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies
I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train

Bridge #1:
Standing on the gallows with my head in a noose
Any minute now I'm expecting all hell to break loose

Chorus
People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

This place ain't doing me any good
I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood
Just for a second there I thought I saw something move
Gonna take dancing lessons do the jitterbug rag
Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag
Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove

Bridge #2
Lot of water under the bridge, Lot of other stuff too
Don't get up gentlemen, I'm only passing through

(chorus)

I've been walking forty miles of bad road
If the bible is right, the world will explode
I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can
Some things are too hot to touch
The human mind can only stand so much
You can't win with a losing hand

Bridge #3
Feel like falling in love with the first woman I meet
Putting her in a wheel barrow and wheeling her down the street

(chorus)

I hurt easy, I just don't show it
You can hurt someone and not even know it
The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity
Gonna get low down, gonna fly high
All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie
I'm in love with a woman who don't even appeal to me

Bridge #4
Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake
I'm not that eager to make a mistake

(chorus)

Toys In the Attic by Pink Floyd

Good morning, The Worm, Your Honour,
The Crown will plainly show,
The prisoner who now stands before you,
Was caught red-handed showing feelings.
Showing feelings of an almost human nature.
This will not do.
Call the schoolmaster!
I always said he'd come to no good,
In the end, Your Honour.
If they'd let me have my way,
I could have flayed him into shape.
But my hands were tied. The bleeding hearts and artists,
Let him get away with murder.
Let me hammer him today.
Crazy.
Toys in the attic, I am crazy.
Truly gone fishing.
They must have taken my marbles away.
Crazy.Toys in the attic, he is crazy.
You little ****, you're in it now.
I hope they throw away the key.
You should've talked to me more often than you did.
But no! You had to go your own way.
Have you broken any homes up lately?
Just five minutes, Worm, Your Honour,
Him and me alone.Baaaaaabe!
Come to Mother, baby.
Let me hold you in my arms.
M'Lord, I never meant for him to get in any trouble.
Why'd he ever have to leave me?
Worm, Your Honour, let me take him home.
Crazy.
Over the rainbow, I am crazy.
Bars in the window.
There must have been a door there in the wall.
For when I came in.
Crazy.
Over the rainbow, he is crazy.
The evidence before the court is incontravertible.
There's no need for the jury to retire.
In all my years of judging I have never heard before,
Of someone more deserving of the full penalty of the law.
The way you made them suffer,
Your exquisite wife and mother,
Fills me with the urge to deficate!
No, Judge, the jury!
Since, my friend, you have revealed your deepest fear,
I sentence you to be exposed before your peers.
Tear down the wall

I hope the lyrics explain it ....
