What effects were caused by the development of hire purchase in the 1920s....i need at least four effects...

That was very soon after WW I. There was a lot of young men return from war all looking for jobs at the same time.

The Great Depression hit around then too.

Now enter Hire Purchase - instead of going without something until you could afford it, you could use it while you are paying it off.

1) That helped manufacturers supply people that otherwise could not afford to get their product.
2) This created debts some families couldn't pay back.
3) New laws were brought in for the reclaiming of goods loosing previous payments for wear and tear (1938 in Brittain)
4) More companies closed because they had unpaid debts while others grew if they had the capital behind them
