hee hee this was easy you must be really tired!
i went to google and typed what is newton's 3rd law? and got this

for each action there is an equal and oppisite reaction
when you throw a ball and it is caught the force of the ball wants to continue thru the glove catching it when caught the hand holding the glove recoils backwards until the force of the ball's inertia from the throw is stopped

when the ball lands on the hand, it is exerting a (downward) force on the hand, and this force would be equal to the gravitational force acting on the ball (F=mgh). this is the action force.

For the hand to catch the ball (and not fall all the way down to the floor with the ball), it needs to exert a force of equal magnitude but in the opposite direction (Newton's 3rd law comes in here). The force the hand is exerting on the ball (force is upwards) to catch the ball is the reaction force. Hope this helps. Sleep early ^^

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction

First think of a BIG ball about the size of a basket ball and 10 kg. Try catching that without getting ready, and you will be knocked backwards.

The ball has Speed and Mass. It will not stop straight away. You need to carry the ball backwards in your hand(s) with your feet well positioned to take its weight / speed / force.

I am not sure what sport you want to use as an example, but work with that.

whenever objects A(hand) and B(ball) interact with each other, they exert forces upon each other.These two forces are called action and reaction forces.For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object. The direction of the force on the first object is opposite to the direction of the force on the second object. Forces always come in pairs - equal and opposite action-reaction force pairs. while catching a ball ur hand moves a little back....this is the action while the force that u apply to stop the ball is the reaction or u can take this vice-versa.................

if u don't move ur hand a bit the ball will hurt u .... this is the action of the ball while after striking your hand the ball might bouce back from your hand............... this is the reaction

The ball moving toward the catcher is the force
The hands moving back toward the catchers chest and stopping the ball is the reaction.

ctaching a ball. envision the hand coming towards the ball and the ball cioming towards the ball. equal and opposite reactions. (well maybe not equal ecaxtly but colose enough)
