. Robin Williams was reading a news buletin about an American river and read details of protective dykes
" Whats a Protective Dyke ? A large woman wearing comfortable shoes"
Now I don't want to tread on any toes but my partner and I found it funny. Were we wrong to do so ? To be able to laugh at orselves seems to be a survival tactic to me.

Being able to laugh at ourselves and the ironies of life isn't just a great survival tactic for gays/lesbian/transgender...it is for all of us. I can let the things in my life that challenge me in one way or another get me down, or use the sense of humor God gave me to help me grow through the process...

Humor is the doorway to the soul that is best entered from the rear.

See?I have a sense of humor to!And there is nothing wrong with that.It is when humor becomes vindictive and cruel that the humor becomes hate. But in this case, humor is humor and laughing at ourselves can be fun.

Life is way too short to be offended by a joke. Laugh it up.

Rose, I'd venture to say you weren't even laughing at yourselves-- you were laughing at a dumb, but funny, joke. When you get to that point, you're no longer just surviving-- you're living.

Good for you.

I cracked up at that line!

Robin isn't homophobic and has a history of 'ad libing' most of his lines. I didn't take it as a bash at all. I laughed like crazy!!

I got a good giggle out of that one.
I've always wondered where that term came from and why it is used to refer to lesbians....
Hmmm

Laughing seems a more enjoyable response than feeling angry.
