Often need to use 'reset' button to start computer. can this do any harm?

Firstly, why are you having to use the "reset" button - is this recent issue?

In a pinch it is fine, but I wouldn't do it if not needed. You can end up with all sorts of problems, from corrupting crucial Windows' services and hardware drivers, to screwing-over your hard-drive.

I'd be getting the problem identified and fixed ASAP before you end up with t whole heap of new ones

Yes, pressing the reset button on computers can be harmful in the long run. Not only can it erase information on your hard drive, you could short the circuits. That is definitely something that you don't want to happen. I suggest either shutting down your computer normally, or put it on Hibernation.

no using the reset button will not cause any harm. that doesnt mean that u should continually use it but it will not cause any substancial harm. but u should still get it checked out
