I've got nearly 100 gigs of MP3's on my PC, needless to say I have extremely low disk space on my computer.

I'm a running a risk of motherboard failure?

Why are my fans always running? Even before I filled up my
computer with crap they run nearly all the time..

PS-- I have an 80 gig external also. That is also filled up with crap.

Maybe your insides of the computer are clogged with dust and the air is not circulating hence a build up of heat. Maybe it is your graphics cards is it a really high end one? Because the better ones run hot and that could be why, but I am betting it is dust. Electronics attract any dust and dirt on the air. Just open the case and clean it especially the fans. I use cotton tips and a vaccuum. Fans should normally turn on and off. It isn't what is on your discs that is causing this but if you don't do some of this maintenance then you run the risk of killing your mother board and processor. You are right the fans should not run all the time, as the mother board and anything that has a fan like the power supply and the graphics card should have a thermostat that keeps tabs on the temp and activate the fans when thigs get too hot.

the fans are always running because the processor alone can run about 40 degrees celcius, which is 104F. There's a problem if they're NOT running. As far as disk space, try defragmenting, running some spyware removers, and get rid of anything you think you can do without.

They just run no matter how much space you have left. You could turn them off, but i have a feeling that you like having an un-melted p.c.
