How come that your car can be 'lifted' and taken to a pound as soon as the ticket is issued adding an extra £150 to an already £100 ticket. Surely this could be considered as theft, not from the expense point of view, but the fact that your property is taken. I'd understand if it were in a dangerous location - i.e. bus lane or red-route, but 99% of the time it's not nessasary to move the car, i guess at least not for 24 hours.

Thoughts??

Parking is an unregulated rip off game.
You can only be lifted if you are causing an obstruction, not for parking illegally behind the shops in a clamping area.

BTW all you have to do to make money from clamping is own a piece of land and put up a few signs in prominent places saying if you park there, you will be clamped and then you must also display the release fee.

This is all true, Man In Pub told me. (Actually I saw it on TV on a documentary).

Another BTW, if you are done for parking on double or single yellow lines, before accepting the fine, check that the ends of the yellow lines (may be some distance away) has a T bar on the end. Check the highway code, all yellow must have a 90degree line on the end, if they don't, you can contest the fine with video evidence you'll get away with it!! That's also very true.

You are right, it is theft. but they get away with it because no one raises the question. In the USA that would be a constitutional violation. "No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.

Where is the process when they steal your property without due process. I don't know if your laws cover that or not.

Lifting the car is an additional income. Thus, cars are indiscriminately towed for additional payment.

All property is theft.

Imposing the death penalty is the only way to stop people illegally parking.
