I'm pretty sure the small anoying ones are the ones that come in search of food. But I have been seeing these medium/large sized ones frequently.I'm not sure but I think they are called wood roaches.I have never had this problem before and now I'm chasing them down and killing them like 2 or 3 times a week. They
are very creepy and I can't stand it. When I see one it sends shivers down my back. What I want to know is what causes them
to come in.Is it the on coming cold weather or are they looking for water. And how can I get them out?

Boric acid, it is very effective when used properly for killing
cockroaches and most other insects.
You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them. More information at http://tinyurl.com/ofxkk

i am an apartment manager and use 2 different companies. I have become a minor expert in this. If you lived in an apartment for a while and didnt have them then they were introduced to your apartment. Did you buy a used toaster? maybe a microwave at a yard sale or a blender from your cousin? Thats one way. Next, it is estimated that each house hold gets at least 2 or 3 roaches a year with groceries. maybe an egg on the bottom of a can or something. If you are unlucky enough to get 2 or 3 eggs in one load of groceries your screwed. And regardless of what people think, being dirty doesnt cause roaches to appear, it just gives them food to eat and breed once they are there. if they have no way in, you can live like a pig. Its just not cool.
Once you get roaches call a exterminator. Its cheaper than you might think. Illiminate clutter. Open the blinds and clean your place top to bottom. One of my NEW residents is complainig about roaches (the last tenant had none) when i went to her apartment to inspect there was dirty dishes filling the sink, the apartment was dark, and she had left her baby formula uncovered on the kitchen counter. If i was worried about roaches & i had given my apartment manager access to my apart ment i sure as hell wouldn't leave baby formula OPENED on the counter. Clean up, keep clean, illiminate food sources.

OMG...you need to get an exterminator right away or you are going to have a big problem. Did you know that if you even see ONE roach...you can bet there are at least hundreds you cannot see? I don't know the proper word for it, but they can procreate all by themselves. They don't need to mate, so even if you see one...you get the idea. When I was younger, I moved into this apartment that (unknown to me) had roaches...to this day (don't have them now), I have a fear of them...yuck!!! Anyway, I asked the exterminator how the heck roaches get into peoples houses to begin with. He said that they often come in grocery bags, even climb in purses, sometimes. Isn't that creepy. The baby ones are super tiny and he told me that they can even feed off of the paper bags when there is no food available...gross! Get an exterminator...if you live in a dwelling that is attached to another, such as an apartment, duplex, etc., then they will need to be treated at the same time. If you don't do it this way, then the roaches will just run into the other dwelling, and when the pesticide has cleared they will come back...some will die on contact, but not all.

I hate them, I really get the creeps just thinking about the way their antenneas wave around. I can't stand it when they start running lie 15 miles an hour.

If you live in an apartment, ask for an exterminator. Otherwise, buy some ant and roach spray and spray it around. Make sure everything is really clean, no food crumbs. And you can buy roach traps. Don't forget to spray around the outside too.

Uncleanliness causes cockroaches in rooms. Daily cleaning and spraying with insecticide can clear them.

they look like a giant roach because they are a giant roach...they are an outside roach coming in,,,if it is just the large adults you are seeing , treating entry points with a residual insecticide, remove rotting wood and leaf matter near the home, watch for large tees near the home that may have a hollow are in it. If you are seeing smaller versions along with the large adult, they are referred to as water bugs for they have to have wet areas to survive and grow, may check for water/sewer leaks

you can buy these things for your plug ins at the harware store. They send out some frequency that keeps pests away. If you have pet mice though they aren't a good idea....I got mine for a mouse that was bugging me at night in my wall but it says on the box they are good for roaches too.

They just want food.
Get an exterminator, clean your house VERY well, and caulk up all the little nooks and crannies they love to hide in.
