Don't get me wrong in fact I think she is the most gifted singer out there today. Just seen her new video Hurt and was thinking don't you think she looks like she belongs in the so called roaring twenties?

That's kinda what they were going for with her new album. Quote from Wikipedia

Aguilera described the double-CD as "a throwback to the 20s, 30s, and 40s-style jazz, blues, and feel-good soul music, but with a modern twist.

I think she is forcing something she would really like to be, but IMHO...she should stick to conteporary. She has one helluva set of pipes, but her vocal exhuberance /improvisation /over-interpretation/ personalisation (singing a song like an operetic diva putting a twist on the National Anthem) is not very becoming.

Just my $.02

i think that is the image she is going for.. she is trying like Madonna.. to renew her image with each album.. so far so good.. she is very gifted.. but she stayed a little tooooo long is skankville on that last album.. .glad to see she is showing some class these days..

That's the illusion the video is trying to give, listen to her singing at the end.
