I am under the impression that Spongebob, the Simpsons, and other cartoons are written with subtle hidden meanings so that parents pay attention to the show and the family watches tv together. It's written so parents can enjoy it too.I allways thought the Simpsons, Spongebob, South Park, and others, are adult cartoons anyhow. They say things today, that I would be grounded for watching when I was a kid. My how times and censorship has changed so much. Anything goes almost.

The world is in a recession right now. The media, music, economy, etc, everything. Like all things dragged on for profit, Sponge Bob is stale and it's golden years are through. It's basically in it's "jump the shark" stage. Sooner or later the studio will realize this and finally cancel it, but that'll be probably in another 5 years when it stops being so lucrative. Right now though, you'll just have to deal with it. Sucks though. Every American animation seems stale now a days. I'm proud of our shows, etc, but the Japanese have animation on lock quality wise. We need to play catch up and stop relying on these retarded live action shows for entertainment.

I love that show. The adult humor mixed in with the easily understandable slapstick is true genius. i like Spongebob as much as i liked the Looney Tunes, and that's saying a lot.

That you understand the jokes better than your kids do, I'm nineteen and I don't even get some of the sense of humor it just makes you a happy-go-lucky person. Its not a bad thing, so don't worry about it.

It means you get the humor that was embedded in it for adults.

Just like how I adored Pee Wee's Playhouse, and my kids didn't get it...it had lots of adult humor that wasn't necessarily "dirty" but went way over their heads.
