Typos are one thing; bad spelling is another but the real problem is that people don't seem to know the meaning of the words they are using and can't frame a question clearly.
Is this because schools are failing are are people just lazy and careless?

See above for an example of a typo.

If it's deliberate then it's not a typo; it's texting and the equivalent of an English speaker replying in French to a question asked in English.

Yes, indeed it does. But, then again alot of education is not needed to be sent to war to die! Sorry I could not resist that one!
There is even a spelling check on here as well, but I think the people are no longer interested in being exact.

Anyone can make a mistake, but some I have seen on here just depict pure ignorance!

Good Luck !

I don't think that schools are failing as such. The problem is the proliferation of technology. Who cares how a word is spelled if my spell-checker will fix it for me (if I bother to use it, that is)?

I would suggest that "people" in general are not lazy and careless, but "people born after 1985" have no concept of taking pride in being able to speak and write properly.

A growing number of people will argue that it doesn't really matter how you speak or write, if people still can understand the general idea of what you are communicating. However, I feel that poor literary skills, in countries where education is freely available, are just plain inexcusable.

You could blame the schools and the teachers, but I don't think that is going to solve anything - all it does is give people an excuse for being ignorant.

a million. economic regulations, economic transformations that avert maximum households from having an entire time (or perhaps section time) homemaker, with the ultimate result that basically about all adults are operating longer hours (artwork for money + self and residential care) and performance a lot less time to have interplay with their babies. 2. funds pushed coverage (thinly veiled with Sociology) of "mainstreaming" scholars with particular desires. even as each and every 30 student classification room has 5-6 "particular desires" scholars -- a million habit situation, a million bodily handicapped, a million on psych meds, and 2-3 very slow inexperienced persons -- then the different 25 "widespread" scholars get a lot less practise. obviously, even as mainstreaming is in position instructors now no longer have the right to exclude disruptive scholars from the college room. 3. Yes I would agree that it is so. Remember there has never been such a high proportion of school leavers who are illiterate as there has been the last ten years. The blame for this can be laid firmly at Tony Blair's door. Phoenetic writing seems to be the 'in' thing for texting but it is creeping into ALL written words now. I dismiss most questions so written, as by their text, you can prejudge the calibre of the person and they wouldn't be able to grasp the answer I give fully anyway. Just use them for points!

Both. There are a lot of careless people on here that use the typos because they think it's kewl 2 tipe lyke this. The others just don't know better and that's where we can blame education.

I would say it is a pretty good example of the falling state of education. Another good example is to browse through a few profiles on Myspace.

We aren't a very smart nation and therefore our children aren't receiving a very good education. Eventually we'll all be taking orders from the Canadians. LOL.

People don't care anymore. They only want to be entertained rather than educated.

You have got to take into account the age and nationality of those asking questions. Plus the fact that much of the poor grammar and spelling is down to people communicating by text.

i agree that teachers are failing, however that is not their fault. if a teacher so much as looks at a pupil the wrong way, they will get sued or sacked or beaten up.
the teacher cannot possibliy have control over children or make them learn, (most) kids dont care and the ones that do dont get any attention coz the teacher is too busy sortng out the naughty ones,

ALSO this is just some chatroom type thing, talkin to a bunch of strangers, why should any one feel the need to display any form of grammer. you guys dont know me, nor do i care how u feel about me, so il type how i like and you can like it or lump it :)

No, it is definitely not because they are lazy and careless. It is because the U. S. kids had bad teachers who thought morbid thoughts like your question and conveyed their neurotically warped disapproval to the poor children trying to learn. This is an old question on Yahoo Answers that separates the rats and the rest of us, Grasshopper. Read a sampling of the previous hurricanes over this issue. Here on Yahoo Answers, you will discover the utter pleasure and fabulous opportunity of meeting and brainstorming and being exposed to THE absolutely global community of mankind. Every kind of humanity and race and age and educational level and culture and vision and nightmare and ignorance and spirituality and politic and hobby is here communicating freely with each other. This is an extraordinary first-time ever human cultural event. You'll get so that you'll take pride in facing a difficult-to-understand question and trying with all your intellect and being to understand what that human being is asking of the rest of the world, and then answer in language that HE, the asker will understand. Real language is about the ability to communicate, not about grammar. Try to remember that especially if you don't want to look like a buffoon sounding like an expert on language. The truth is, this concoction of people here on Yahoo is the reality of who we actually are. And, apparently, we are not as well educated as humanity could be on the average. But, also, we are much wiser than I would have thought, on the average. Look for that wisdom behind the asker's fuzzy language. Learn to respect all humans, not just the one's like you. If you're one of the glorious Chosen Ones who must find reasons to divide and compare humanity in order to feel superior, hold your horses and save the sublime sophistication of your grammar skills for the REAL mindless global issues made up by dividers, such as illegal immigration, religious differences, and just plain hate anywhere you look. It's a regular mall in here of people who live to ridicule, put down and hate. A measure of a good person is not how well others understand him, but how well he can understand others. Be very kind and helpful with the misspellers and hypertexters (ur for you're is CORRECT for them) the VERY young, the intoxicated, the broken, the hopeless, the people using mechanical translators, tired people who have been off "defending" (?) all week, goat shepard boys who ask truly profound questions about the world by relating the great mysteries of the universe to vegetables or something that has meaning where he lives, and the ones who have just punched out on a computer their very first sentence in English and they are like BEAMING somewhere and then some sparkling soul answers, "Get OFF you freak until you can SPELL you moron!!!!!!!!". Those kind of gentle askers often make the kind of "errors" that bother the heightened sensibilities of the "Splendid Mindless Who Can Use A Typewriter Flawlessly But Haven't Ever And Won't Ever Have A Clue Or Moment Of Real Lucidity Or Spirituality In Their Entire Meaningless Petty Little Lives Of Any Value Worth Writing About". Unfortunately, so many of the third world kids trying to communicate with us as BEST as they can are SO weak in English language skills, aren't they? Tsk Tsk. You'd think after they've learned the three or four languages MORE than you and I learn in the U.S., they'd snap up that fifth and sixth language right away for the honor of getting to share this time and space with special English-speaking-only people who know where punctuation marks in English SHOULD BE!!! Clearly, you have a superior intellect. I am so excited! How many languages could you possibly translate for us here on Yahoo, those of us who actually enjoy trying to help people? Do let me know. We need all the good people we can get. You have at least "sort of" noticed that in the world lately, right?

Yes, to both. The schools are spiraling downward and have been for quite some time, and it seems that society is becoming lazier and more careless.
