Hi there! I was in your situation not too long ago.
I went swimming and as soon as I got into the water I was having contractions...but that was in the summer and swimming isn't quite an option in winter...
Has your practitioner stripped your membranes? It is a simple and *relatively* painless procedure where he/she inserts a finger and loosens the membranes, and this sometimes is enough stimulation to bring on labor contractions (although usually it has to be done a couple of times to have real results).
Other *safe* options include nipple stimulation and having intercourse, as these both release hormones that can jumpstart labor.
However, do not attempt any of these until the baby is AT LEAST 38 weeks (it is MUCH better to go the full 40 weeks so that the baby has enough time to fully develop and prepare for the birth).

You can try the old - fashioned way of induction ... Castor oil. If the baby is ready, it may induce labor ... if the baby isn't ready, all you'll get out of it is a bad case of diarrhea.
I induced my second son with Castor oil .... I drank a 500ml bottle w/orange juice at 6:00pm and the contractions started at 10:00pm ... extremely mild contractions until 6:00am ... went to the hospital and I was dilated 4cm. The doctor broke my water at 10:00am and my son was born at 11:07am.
This can ... in no way, harm you or your baby. But, I'd still like to mention ... it's best to just let your baby come when it's ready. My baby was two weeks over-due. The doctor was going to induce the baby in two days ... so, I thought I'd try the old-fashioned way first. Oxy induction hurts a lot more, as the contractions are much stronger.

There is no medical proof that any of these things bring on labor. They only serve to make the mother more uncomfortable. The baby will come when it is time.
Also, another thing to consider is that the lungs are the very last thing to develop in the unborn baby. You want to give them all the time they need. Nothing is worse than watching a baby that can't breathe on it's own, knowing there's nothing you can do for it.
The next best thing to waiting it out is to see if your doctor will induce early. Good luck!!!

Sex, nipple stimulation, a natural herb that can be found at health food stores but I forget the name of, walking. Do NOT lift anything heavy. For me, having a little fun with my hubby usually resulted in braxton hicks contractions. One time, 2 weeks before I was due, those post-sex contractions got worse and worse and never stopped until 38 hours later when our daughter was born. Congrats!

Well they would like most babies to go full term because then everything is developed properly. Personally I would be more worried about how healthy my baby was instead of having a rushed recovery time. Walking did me alot of good when I was in labour with my son. Please consider going until you are full term it will be much better for the baby.

The baby will come when he/she is ready. Why would you want to rush the baby out before he/she is ready to be born? Some people say have sex or walk a lot... other than that I would not try anything else.... especially NO CASTOR OIL...

Sex! Both times sex brought on labor for me. It had more or less ceased with both pregnancies by 30 weeks. We did it at 36.5 weeks and had our son the next day, and at 38 weeks and had our daughter the next day.
