Even though they are about to make a giant leap into the economical arena, I don't see the powers that be letting go of their political power anytime in the future.

Probably not in a looong time. Maybe in 50 years.
But really, China isn't even following the strict rules of Communism any more. It's more like a mix between Communism and Democracy now -_-

Communisn does not allow the multiple political parties because it is not consistent with the system of domination.
