I hate them too. As a matter of a fact, it's one of the first things I remove from any new computer I get or that I'm setting up for somebody if they don't need it.

Most of programs are removed by going to the Control Panel, then to Add or Remove Programs. You will probably have to reboot your computer a few times if you're removing a couple different programs.

Once you run the setup it takes over a system and it does NOT play well with others, even if you try to remove it after wards. Usually, the the best thing do is use the restore disk that came with the computer and restore it to factory spec. Then, remove the AOL software first thing along with any other ISP offers, and other software or ad ware you don't need or want on your system.

After you have everything cleaned off you don't want, then it's time to install whatever you need for your preferred method of connecting to the Internet. Then, once that's done pick up all the security patches for Windows and install your favorite programs. Don't forget to install anti-virus and firewall software too.
