I think the best ACTOR (since there has never been a real professional wrestler in history) was Lonnie Mayne, the One Man Gang.

Ric Flair is the greatest ever. The man has won more championships than any other wrestler in history, and by the way it's more than just 16 it's more like 22 or 23. Besides that the man has faced every legend ever in history Hogan, Macho Man, Sting, Kerry Von Erich, Vader, Harley Race, Piper, Nikita, Windham, Great Muta, Brody, Hansen, Dr. Death, The Freebirds, The Road Warriors, Arn Anderson, Steve Austin, Junk Yard Dog, The Steiners, Lex Luger, Steamboat, Terry and Dory Funk, Dusty Rhodes, and the list goes on and on. Also he is regarded by most other wrestlers as the greatest ever. HHH and Edge in interviews have stated he was the biggest inspiration in there careers.

There is only One Answer to this question and it is the Excellence of Execution, Bret "The Hitman" Hart. He was a phenomenal talent, who made himself within the WWE. He didn't get giant pushes like Hogan, or a company built around him like Flair. Every title, every ounce of recognition, and every nickname given he earned. He was trained by one of the greatest, and showed every week he wasn't afraid of anybody. It didn't matter if you were new to the company, or already had a huge role in it Bret Hart would give you a shot at his title. Over the last two decades he is the only Champion to fight at every show in a title match. The Icons in this business had great things to say about The Hitman. Ric Flair said " Bret Hart is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. That's the TRUTH!" and Hogan said " Bret Hart still makes me believe that wrestling is good." How can we argue with the men deemed the Icons of this business.

Chris Benoit, he will be the guy in 20 years that everyone remembers. This guy has done more in the last 20 years than any other 5 active wrestlers (with the exception of Ric Flair and the Undertaker), HHH was still jobbing when Benoit was headlining in WCW, HBK was still in AWA as a "Midnight Rocker" when Benoit was wrestling for the World title in Japan. Most of the superstars today were in diapers when Benoit started wrestling.
