It means that there was a pregnancy that got started but the embryo/fetus has died or just didn't develop. An embryo/fetus that dies can be reabsorbed and leave nothing in the sac.

There can be a full-developed placenta in addition to the sac.

This can be called a "missed abortion", and there's a chance the woman would have a miscarriage eventually

It most likely results from a blighted ovum.

It means that a fetus never actually developed. Nor will it. If your OB has found an empty sac, you should have had a D&C scheduled. It's not abortion, because you don't have a baby in there. You will more than likely miscarry soon, as your body will reject it.

im preety sure its when even though the egg isnt fertislised the body thinks its pregnant and the egg still implants and sends out the hcg hormone ect

blighted ovum its a miscarriage i had one in July a blighted ovum! its a horrible feeling! i been trying or should i say not trying and letting nature do its thing!

my friends sister just had this.. its considered a pseudo-pregnancy because the fetus does not form .. sorry
