Any trendy name is going to be dated and "old" very soon. I heard good advice once - to try the name in a series of sentences and see if any seem absurd or embarrassing. Example:

Congratulations, CHICAGO; you got an A in science.
CHICAGO, will you marry me?
I'd say CHICAGO has the best qualifications for this job.
I'll consult CHICAGO before making a decision.

As others have pointed out, a name is for a PERSON, for their whole life, not just for a baby. Something non-trendy that is easy to spell and pronounce wins every time. "Creative" spellings just mean that the person will go through life saying, "No, it's spelled...." I wouldn't choose the number one name of the year - who wants something that common? - but a name that will be recognised by everyone as a real person's name, not a city name. I'd prefer names like Laura or Gregory to Omaha or Sacramento!

Um I think some of them are cute but others I don't really like. I like Dakota,Austin, and if I would of ever had twin girls I loved the names China and Asia. I used to like the name Paris but I hate Paris Hilton so now I don't like the name anymore. I also liked the name Cour De Lane. It's a place in Idaho.

Names can influence a persons social life as they grow up, I like them if they aren't too far out there. My mothers name is India and I think it is pretty, she was raised by her middle name but she loves her first name and isn't ashamed of it. I know a guy named albaquirky, or however you spell it (its in New Mexico). Also, a girl named Dakota and her brother Montana. I think these should be the other way around. Also, a girl named Chevelle and of course there is Harley which is very popular. Just don't name your son Sue!!!!!! River, Autumn, Summer, Indians name their children with adjetives and nouns, even a whole sentence if they choose, Hunter of the Forest!!!!!

I personally don't know the babies, so how could I like nor dislike them? But on another note, it is not the babies fault that the parents name their children after places. Has it ever occured to you that most places were named after a person at one time or another? Most places get their name after someone famous of the time period that the city or street was named.

Some are okay. It helps maintan a connection to a place of importance. Although, I would never name a baby Detroit, even though that's where I was raised LOL!

Many places were named after people, so they are names already!

I like the name Brooklyn, considering that is what I named our daughter. People didnt like it when I said thats what I was planning on naming her, but once she was born, it was so obvious that it fit her. We get compliments on her name all the time. And no, she wasnt concieved in Brooklyn. I've never even been on the east coast. I chose the name because I like the name Brook, but its kinda common, so I got a little creative.

Yes!! I like the name DENVER, it's so cute!! That's the only one I can think of now, but I think babies named after places are so cute. Paris is kind of an odd name but she made it work. She says she wants to name her daughter China and son London.
How about fruits and flowers? EX: Peach and Daisy. My uncle named their dogs, Apple and Cherry. I think it's cute.
