Depends upon what type of an infection your talking about. The top 15 antibiotic herbs (as outlined in a book by Stephen Harrod Buhner and entitled Herbal Antibiotics) are Acacia, Aloe, Cryptolepsis, Echinacea, Eucalyptus, Garlic, Ginger, Goldenseal, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Honey, Juniper, Licorice, Sage, Usnea, and Wormwood.

I would recommend the ginger, the honey, the licorice, and the sage for herbal teas. Any combination of the four is fine and will help with a variety of infections. I can't say if they would cover all infections, but they are a great place to start. Just be sure to allow them to steep for 10 to 15 minutes, particularly the ginger root, which can be found in almost any grocery store. The honey doesn't have to be steeped, but can be used to sweeten any of the other three.

If you'd like to take capsule form then the Echinacea, and Goldenseal are both good bets. In particular, if you can find it, the goldenseal is wonderful. I have used it before, quite successfully in the past.

Also, using the garlic in your cooking, that is if you like garlic, is a great bet as well.

I wouldn't recommend sugar at all. Also, the herbs above could be used in combination with the green tea if desired. It will create a uniquely different taste though and one that you might have to aquire over time. Then again you might like it from the get go.

First question is "what type of infection"-

For example for UTI - the following blend woks effectively:
Herbs in this blend: Uva Ursi, Chamomile, Juniper Berries, Horsetail, Goldenseal

How you know the tea is working :
It helps take away pain and will allow body to flush toxins by increasing urination.

Tea is not meant for continuous use and should be mainly used upon onset of pain.

If symptoms persist for longer then 3 days, please see your health care provider as infection pain may be the sign of a deeper problem.

P.S. Green tea does not have infection properties per se. It is helpful in different way.
The extract of balck tea has shown the good result for some of the infections.

I have always heard sugar messes up the medicinal properties of tea, try honey instead. I have heard green tea is good, also echinacea, white tea, and red clover. Your local grocery store may have some that are blended to fight infection also.

Do not add cane sugar or other sweetener to green tea. It is quite flavorful as it is, and not at all bitter like black tea.

Most medicines don't work so well with sugar added, regardless of what Mary Poppins says.

Green tea is good, has lots of anti-oxidants. As for a sweetener, sugar wont do anything, but for a better tasting tea, use natural honey.

Why don't you use honey instead of sugar? I wish you had mentioned what kind of infection you have so I could be more helpful. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants and that will help your immune system. So, drink up!

sugar won't ruin the tea's good effects.

Green tea is the best.
Black tea is the second best.
And all the rest of the teas are all equally very healthy.
