Despite the. . . growing acceptance of interracial relationships, there will always be someone who feels a deep hate for it. I personaly have never allowed myself to get too serious ---as much as I wanted to ---with a guy that I liked. Because I felt so terrified of being "that girl" you know, the black girl who dates white guys. I have black / gliter nail polish on and jet black hair with a green-ish dark blue bang. As far as a physical attraction; I like guys with unnartural hair color, piercings, and a few tattoos. A lot of my friends look like this. . . Don't get me wrong, we have a hell of a lot more in common than most people will allow themselves to think. As for a lot of people saying things like as long as you love each other. . . I think in the bigger picture that you have to trust each other first and formost. You also must be able to trust yourself, otherwise when brandishing comments of cruelty and hate become more apparent and niether one of you can stay strong for eachother let alone yourselves, the whole thing could collapse. I'm 18 now and for the last 8 or 9 years i have been so afraid to have any intimate relationship because of this reason. I'm not strong enough. People staring at me a whispering when I'm with my friends. . . I expect it. People staring at me and a potential boyfriend whispering. . . I can't ignore it and it makes me feel like such a terrible person. I think because more goes into the situation when we're more than friends. Overall, interracial realtionships, in my opinion are. . . honestly they're exhausting at times (depending how much you let other people's negativity get to you) but if you love being in the relationship with that person than it makes standing up for it all the more worth while.

Who cares. I am married to a Latin man (6 years now) and have 3 beautiful children with him. I have always dated men according to compatibility and attractiveness. I do have a preference for White or Latin (just like some people like tall people, fat people, skinny people, whatever) But I have also dated Black, Asian, African. It does not matter as long as they are good people (and sexy!!! LOL). I think it is 2006 and people need to get over it. Trust me, no matter what race, men are men. If you limit yourself you might miss out on something special.

Ari, I read you post and I feel bad for you. You should not let other people dictate your happiness. If they are not feeding you or f-ing you, then who cares what they think. They can get glad in the same pants they got mad in. I think you should follow your heart. If you meet a fine @ss white guy and you want to be with him, then do so. If you meet a fine @ss black guy then be with him. But just be with who YOU want, and don't let strangers affect your life.

Interracial relationships don't phase me, because I believe each and every one of us in this world is of mixed blood as it is. Personally, I don't desire being with anyone who is African American, or a shade of black/brown skin, but my preference is mine. I can't speak of or speak to what anyone else likes, and I don't want to.
