Obviously the engine light is on, but what specifically is wrong? Can anyone describe whats happening? I think its the motor mounts. How much will it run me to get it fixed, and how long will it take? I'd appreciate any help.

Try the easiest and least expensive possible fixes first. It could simply be that the idle is too low. Have the idle RPM increased slightly by adjusting the accelerator linkage. Next check that the plugs are all firing by sequentially and only one at a time, remove the plug wire connection. If the plug is not firing there will not be a difference in the engine sound with the wire removed. Also check for unburned gas out the exhaust. As for motor mounts, the problem would be most pronounced when gunning the engine RPM and would typically involve only the RH mount.
Engine light can come on when the exhaust gas sensor is bad or the car needs a tuneup.

It becomes a little difficult when people ask questions about a problem they are experiencing and don't provide material information about the vehicle in question like year, make & model. Anyway, if the Check Eng light is on, it is possibly a misfire.

could be a mixture of wheel balancing and or a mis fire causing undue shake in the engine.

Get it checked out as it could lead to instabiity at high speed.

if your light is on bring it to autozone and have them put a code reader on it and they can tell you what is wrong
