basically, in working practice, when you write e-mails or letters, you do not type in caps, unless if you need attention in the sentence. if you type caps, it seemed that you are shouting. same goes when you are sms-ing someone.

Capital Letters are generally used in SMS or e-mail whenever you want to emphasise anything. So one should be careful about using caps, its the equivalent of shouting(while speaking).

Personally, I HATE it when people sms me in CAPS only or with alternating big and small letters. It makes reading difficult, not to mention I get the feeling that I'm being screamed at.
I agree with Confused Guy. Caps are for screaming and for emphasis.
