Mmmm....you , my friend, are a deep thinker with much time on your hands. I'm not sure my tired brain can get around this!! I would day that there are more POSSIBLE things than IMPOSSIBLE things, in this day and age. I actually saw an article that said some scientists were now able to make certain things disappear. Whoa, Nellie!!!!

I think none. There is NO possibility of an impossibility. If there was, it wouldn't be an impossibility, it would be a probability.

Except if that was a math question. Then I'm just stumped.

People, let's read carefully. Noone said a 'probability of an impossibility'. I was saying that if an impossibility had a possibilty, it couldn't be called that (impossibility) anymore. It would go against the very definiton of the word.

It depends on the thing that is "impossible" . For example, you could say that it is impossible that Brad Pitt is going to leave Ang and his kids and come and live with you and you will live happily ever after. This technically is not "impossible" because he can physically do it. However, if you said Jade Goody was going to win a nobel prize from discovering a new law in physics then you know that is IMPOSSIBLE with no possibility!

Impossibility in maths has a probability of nil. In other words the likelihood of something impossible happening is that it's impossible, it's just never going to happen. So the possibility of the impossible must be zero too, because mathematically the impossible just isn't possible.
If you follow it through carefully, it makes sense.

Monie is closest so far. You cant have impossibility w/o possibility. Therefor if something is impossible than it is not possible and that would go against the logic of you cant have impossibility w/o possibility. Unless the possibility dosent exist than it would be impossible to say...

You have to love the people who invented zero.
If you flip a coin, you have a 50% chance of getting of heads; you get a 50% chance of getting tails. You have a 0% chance of a zebra appearing in your room, giving you a million dollars offering you a cup of tea when you flip a coin. Or in this case it is impossible.

Another way of saying something is impossible, is to say nothing will happen. This is a good mental exercise, attempt to visualize "Nothing" or "zero". I've haven't succeed but it is fun

I think the "probability" of something that is impossible would be 0.

e.g. probability of a 7 rolling on a die out of 7 rolls would be 0/7 = 0

Well, the probability of impossibility is 0, but I'm not sure what the possibility is! Probably 0 also! :-)

The possibility of anything being impossible is quite high when you think about it.

It is the same possiblity as the San Francisco Gaints winning the World Series. No chance!
