Well if you already have IM downloaded to your computer than sign in add your friends and if you are ready to talk to them and their on-line put your pointer on their name and a box should pop up with their name, email address and four little pictures. Then click on the one with the bubble and a exclamation mark in it. then a bigger box will pop up and you type in what you want to write and hit send!

Did you download Yahoo messenger?
You then type in there name in the little box, and a menu comes down says.. IM "so and so"

u have to yahoo im and they have to have their im thing open to people
if u dont have yahoo im u get by going to the home page and clicking messenger right my mail and download it then when u see someone u want to talk to on this click and see if they have thier im think open if they do im them
