what adjustments have to be made for the hearing impaired when teaching a class with normal hearing students in the class. do you have to write on the board, or sign for those who can't hear.

How long does it take to learn ASL and do new students have a hard time keeping up or do they miss a lot of what's being said.

I'd suggest you be prepared to answer questions about recent events in the news. One particular item I have in mind is the largest ASL college in the U.S. recently had demonstrations by a large part of it's student body because one of the staff had too close ties with an organization that is trying to give hearing to hearing impaired. Their reason for demonstrating was that they did not want to be perceived as handicapped. They have their own sub-culture and argued that they do not want to hear.

With this in mind, my question would be, Do the hearing impaired prefer deafness to hearing or is this some subversive version of political correctness gone......? I can't say mad, because political correctness is madness in itself...... to the extreme?
