Too late. It may die before it takes root. I'd wait till early spring, & also when the soil becomes soft enough to cultivate at least 3-4 " deep, level it, w/o packing it too tight. Lay the sod, butting ALL edges tightly(something poeple sometimes overlook). The weighted rolling wheel will finish the leveling and packing, (low spots may eventually drown, avoid doing that) Look at it as a process. hope it goes well.

It depends on the type of sod.
Generally, it would be better to lay the sod when it is coming out of its dormant stage (early spring). This way the roots will be active, and will not freeze during the harsh winter. Also make sure to spread a good layer of sand on the topsoil before laying the sod. It will give the roots an easier medium to "grab" onto.

i think you should wait bc the morning frost could kill the sod and plus you watering it could make more frost and would not have a chance to thaw out and that could kill it too. The roots need to get into the soil and that would be hard because the ground could be frozen you would probably have a better chance if you wait till it gets warmer.

Grass seed won't germinate below 70 degrees. You'll likely have to wait until spring now.
