Probably because males, unlike females, were not taught from an early age that their life was going to be a love story. While little girls are planning their Barbie's wedding, boy's are planning the attack against Cobra's ninjas with their GI Joes. And it is highly discouraged by parents and society that any child does not fit his/her role. Therefore, while females may see falling in love as happily ever after, males are more likely to see it as game over. Obviously, this doesn't apply to all.

I feel pressured when people tell me they love me. I think only because I know that I have their emotions in my hand, and the power to destroy them. I don't like having that power, so I become uncomfortable. Also, love means different things to people. To me, Love and Lust is NOT the same thing. Sorry about the little tangent, If I were a guy I would feel pressured if someone told me they loved me because of the commitment and power.

It may be because they do not know what love is. They feel like they should do something to show they understand what you are expressing to them. Maybe you should explain what you mean when you say " I love you."

Won't that make you feel pressured if you didn't also love the person back?

Because they then feel you are wanting a commitment from them, they may not want.
