handle the situation in Iraq, and fight the war on terror?

Well, for those of you who answered with "I would put a date on when to pull our troops out," Well, guess what, not only would the terrorists proclaim an early victory, they would simply sit around and wait until we left before getting the upper hand and taking over. The latter condition in Iraq would be far worse than it is now if you slap a date on when to withdraw troops.

That doesn't make sense... Tell the terrorists (the enemy) when you'll be leaving? Basically, announcing to them ahead of time on when you plan to "give up". To them, they see your date of withdrawl as the day you plan on holding a white flag up. If you planned on pulling out in as early as 6 months, why not just skip the 6 months and pull out the next day? What point do those 6 months make? Those 6 months don't "accomplish" anything unless you can provide stability there. Sure, we have to leave sometime, but not until there's obvious stability there. And I highly doubt that in 6 months from now that there's going to be stability there.

I would do what ever needed to be done to eliminate the terrorist, and make Iraq a functioning Democracy. I would also see that Hussein was hung, if he was still alive. If we do not kill the terrorist, they will kill our grandchildren.

If we were still at war in Iraq when I took office, I would set a deadline to have all of our troops out of Iraq in six months. We may still be in Afganistan at that time, and I would probably have to move some of the troops there to help the UN.

Regarding the war on terror, I would first declare that war to be over. It was never a war in the first place. You can not fight a war against terrorists. You can make the country safer from terrorist attacks, but that is different from trying to call it a war. I would make America a leader in world again not by military force or miltiary threats but rather leading by example.

I would set a date to have the soldiers out of Iraq. Have Syria, with the United Nations, handle the situation along with the USA.

This is why. What is the problem we are having now in the US? Immigration. It would be the same thing with Syria. If the Civil War continues, then refugees would be pouring across the border. Neither country wants that. The United Nations would continue to monitor the country and help the Iraqi government. WE can turn our attention to important things, like OUR COUNTRY and the problems with Iran.

1. Give the Iraqis a deadline to stand up for themselves (within 18 months).

2. Fight terror by working closely with law enforcement and intelligence agencies of all nations. (This is how the 1993 bombers of the World Trade Center were captured.)

1. create a true coalition and support around the world as to how best "fix" Iraq 2. create a plan w/ attainable goals 3. let Iraq define and create their own type of democracy on their terms 4. listen to all points of view and not just those that agree w/ me 5. define precisely who are our enemies and how to best deal w/ them 6. use diplomacy (talking to our "enemies" as well as our allies to prevent further hostilities!!!!!!
