Check your lease. Most leases have an entry clause that you must initial. You can choose to allow the apartment manager, or his "designee" (the maintainance man, exterminator, etc.) to enter your apartment without your being present. A work order signed by you may also give them the right to enter when you are not there. If you have allowed entry without your being present, you have no complaint. Having said that, the person entering your apartment should have knocked or rung the doorbell, but then you might not have heard it since you were in the shower.
Best advice is never to let anyone in your apartment without your being present.
Good luck with your problem.

The fact that they were coming to fix something makes it questionable. Check out your lease if there is nothing in there go to your legal aid office they have pamphlets on rights of tenants and the responsibility of landlords at least here in Hugo they do. Still if your car was there or they could tell you were there in any way like maybe the sound of water running they shouldn't have come inside. I would definitely talk to my landlord for future incidents.

Sometimes the apartment manager doesn't know when the maintenance man will show up.... they do the best that they can..to depend on others to fix your problem...I wouldn't think too much of it...they most likely knocked on your door and you didn't hear them because you were in the shower. a 24 hour notice is supposed to be given.

I dont think the state matters the law is the same anywhere. They defenitly should have called ahead to let you know they would be coming over. Second they should only use there key if noone is at home and have your permission

Contact your local housing authority to get the exact rules in your location in most jurisdiction they have to notify you 24 to 48 hours in advance unless it is a dire emergency like a fire or a broken water pipe. Without advanced notice you can refuse entry and they can't take action against you.

I'm not from Oklahoma, but I asked my son-in-law who is a police officer and he said that they should have gotten your permission before entering or they should have notified you earlier to see if you would be home and if not could they enter your apartment. It would have really bothered me if that had happened to me!! Sorry it happened to you!!

If you put in a work order, they don't have to notify you first unless you specifically ask them to notify you first. They would put that information on the work order. You gave them permission to go into your apartment when you put in the order....it's in your lease.

you need to ask the cops that question. I used to rent and my landlord was always going into my house, I set a trap for him. I 'm not sure about the laws where you live but I would sure find out.

I believe they do have the right, but you have the right to gripe them out for not notifying you they were coming.
