Well, I only remember going back as far as Nixon's run against Kennedy. Now, Nixon's boys in 72 pulled a few nasty tricks on some Democrat candidates, trashing the hotel room they had booked to inconvenience them, stealing toilet seats from Democrat HQ offices, some real fratboy type stunts, but Kennedy pulled one in 60 that I know of.

Kennedy and Nixon did the very first televised debate. Nixon didn't even know that the lights required him to wear makeup, so he had to borrow Kennedy's makeup people. They made him look like a clown on national TV.

Mean and nasty tricks have been in politics for a long time. The question isn't "when will that stop", it's "when will people wise up and learn to see through them?"

I am a republican and I am not mean or nasty. Mean and nasty people can be found in all political party. It is all in the way a person views another party. So it isn't fair to call one party mean and nasty because a few people are. This is what is wrong with society people judge a group of people mainly on the ones who have demonstrated bad actions. This is the kind of thing that led to racism and hatred, jugding a group based on the rotten apples.

Yes they have always been this mean, They are lead by the richest 5% of this Nation. The richest 5% of this nation would have it be 100% capitalist because they feel no responsibilities toward the working people of this nation. The working people of this nation are responsible for their accumulation of wealth. A 100% capitalist nation would not have public schools, post offices, public roads, DHS, school grants and Etc.
Unfortunately, over the last 20 years, they have successfully mascaraed them self as a supporter of religious causes. These 5% are the same type of people that govern when Jesus was crucified.

Actually, the Republican party has only become sneaky, underhanded liars in the last few decades. Goldwater Republicans have had about enough of it and are starting to and take the party back from the neocons. Let's hope they succeed.

Excuse me but where the hell have you been? The venom has been coming from the likes of, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Al Gore, Ms. Palosi, just about any left wing actor that you name, including Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin, Martin and Carlie Sheen... Give me a break. The Republicans, who in my opinion are no better politically than the Democrats, have continually turned the other cheek. And, if you guys loose this election, it will be because the rest of us are tired of your rhetoric, your lies, and your out in out spitefulness. Why don't YOU try telling the truth once in while?

Yes. They're always the same, looking out for ol' #1, shortsighted, conservative in all the wrong ways, liberal in all the wrong ways, sucking up to power and authority figures, sanctimonious, self-serving, self-righteous and hypocritical all in the same breath.

It takes a miserable, greedy, selfish cur to belong to the GOP, especially at the higher levels.
