Most keyed locksets can be rekeyed. I think your decision should rest with the type, age, and value of the lockset you have. If you have an old brass lockset, it would probably be best to have it rekeyed by a locksmith. If you can remove the lockset and take it to the locksmith, you will save a lot of money. If the lockset is an inexpensive twist knob keyed lockset, chances are good that the pins and cylinder are worn out and the best option is to buy a whole new lockset.
Goodl luck with your lockset problems.

Decent locksets and deadbolts aren't cheap so having a locksmith to rekey what's present isn't a bad idea. They can come to the house to do the job and should clean & relube them as part of the routine. You can call around to see what it'll cost first and decide from there. If you buy new sets, get those keyed alike and of the same manufacturer as the present sets. Some have different shaped plates that fit to the door and frame so sometimes one has to chisel out the corners to get the new stuff to fit.

I believe Defiant is similar to Kwik Set. Home Depot sells rekey kits for Kwik Set. Buy one and follow the instructions.

Replace the entire lock or call a Locksmith to do it.
