Perfect question for me, im half afghan. In afghanistan a lot of rice is eaten. We also have mantu, which is a dough(quamire) that is filled with ground meat and chopped onions. Another food is boloni, which is a dough wrapped around seasoned potatoes and chives that is fried. Shorwa is also a popular meal, which is a soup that contains beans, potatoes, lamb, tomatoes, and any vegetables you might like, and it is eaten by soaking it with afghan bread.

Afghani food is kind of a cross between:
1. Most middle eastern/greek type "grilled meat with Flatbread" kind of thing.
However it's got stome elements with stewing meat with vegetables similar in ways to
2a. Indian food.
and
2b Turkish food
Anyway it's really tasty when done right.
Lots of Lamb dishes.
I once was traveling in Salt Lake City and ate at a really good Afghan restaurant.
