Just think of the medicinal uses... Then there would be no use 4 human lab rats 2 test the deadly chemicals on.

Actually, if it were legalized, the government would make billions from taxes

Many political reasons. There was initially the competition of hemp (cannibis plant) with cotton. Later, and it is in the congressional record, when the great depression hit, legislators wanted to discourage immigration from our southern neighbor country, and it was considered common knowledge that marijuana was the preferred mind altering drug of those particular immigrants. Not to mention the ethanol industry lobby.

What is amazing to me is how thoroughly the American public has bought into this propaganda hook, line and sinker. Even many well educated people have blinders on when this issue arises. Why aren't the fundamentalists out there arguing for this "god-given" drug? If they are so interested in what their god wants and put on this earth....

Anyway, you hit a nerve. I don't partake, but don't see anything wrong with it either. I was at a conference where the NIH rep gave a two hour talk, and it is so very clear that this is quite possibly the safest of all "drugs", and if they can develop an on site driving competency test, I will be on the front lines to get this legal.

because people follow blindly, if people actually tried it and experienced it for themselves or atleast had an open mind about it... i mean, cigs and beer kill more than every other drug combined times like... 1000 and pot has killed uh... nobody...ever... the government could make money off of it too, give out selling permits and numbers and such, while taxing the dealers. as far as tests go... its kinda hard not to tell if someones high. people say its against god but in genisis it clearly says "i give you these seed bearing plants to do with what you will" and pot is a seed bearing plant so if someone has a religous stance on it, they turn into a hypocrite. people say its a gateway drug... bs. people get into that **** on their own. as far as motovation goes, i know people who have smoked their whole lives and still get up and go to work every morning at 8 and get home at 4-5. it would free up our overcrowded prison system too. its just that everybody's been taught that its bad and they're too afraid of trying it for themselves.

It's almost a suicidal technique. You can't lie to kids. Drug education is a uniformed policeman coming into the first grade and telling all these f***ing lies about marijuana so that by the time the kids are in junior high and they've tried it, they know you're full of ****. Marijuana is a gateway drug -- it teaches you disrespect for authority.

Plus the alcohol companies pay big $ to keep it illegal , A big problem for legalization is also there is no good test to see how stoned someone is while driving like a Breathalyzer or even a blood test cant Gage the "high" accurately

Take a look at your spelling and grammar. If marijuana is really as enjoyable as most make it sound (yes, I've never done it at the age of 17), you must not realize that at some point, it's actually making you less aware of the world around you.

The liquor industry is the biggest bar to legalization of marijuana also the pharmaceutical industry. Don't look for legalization anytime soon.

There is no good reason why, except that American's are close-minded!! They let us drink alcohol in a bar til 2 a.m., then drive home......but smoke some weed??? OH NO!! That's horrible.

if i drive drunk they have a test to tell. come up with a test like that for pot and they might legalize it. the only test now can only tell if you smoked recently.

Your reason is flawed.

Anything can be marketed, can be taxed. And, it would certainly be a plausible alternative to growing tobacco.
