Yellow jackets have the colouring like a bee, but are actually a wasp that can sting over and over again. The best way to get rid of them is to call an exterminator.

No. Bees sting and leave their "stinger" behind. A wasp can sting repeatedly and still be just fine.

In fact, I had the misimpression that wasps actually bite and inject toxins that way... apparently not. A misunderstanding slain. Thanks!

No. They are wasps. Only honeybees, that I know of, die after they sting. Wasps and other kinds of bees do not loose the stinger and do not die after stinging.

No, they do not die they are able to sting many times without ever dying.

No, they don't. It is bees that lose the nether regions of their abdomen to the act of stinging, and therefore die while protecting their hive.
