my longest nail is split half way across just below where it meets my finger, is there a way to keep it from splitting further until the split is far enough from my finger to clip it safely?

I just read in "First" Magazine to take a teabag, and cut a piece out of it and put it over the split in your nail. Then put some clear nail polish over it, and it should stay until your nail grows long enough to clip it.

It always hurts when this happens. I usually clip my nail down to the tip of my finger and apply acrylic nail strengthener (2-3 coats), let it set, and put a band-aid on. This usually makes the nail last long enough so that it will come off, later, without bleeding or otherwise causing sever pain.

Try nail glue, it will glue your hanging back to your nail. However, if it is too deep of a split, then try a nail patch. Its a little patch that's glueable to your nail and you can file it down, paint over it, do whatever you do with your nail. These two products can be found at any drugstore such as walmart, walgreens, cvs, etc.

I know this sound funny but it works great....Get a Tea Bag Empty it.and cut it to fit over your your finger nail Use a quick drying glue and ahear the tea bag to your nail When it is dry...use a nail file to smooth it out .Use Nail polish as you would normally to hide it. No one will be the wiser.

i would say try the nail patch. if you use the glue and it sticks your nail to your finger, what is gonna happen when your nail starts growing? especcially if you use crazy glue. it might hurt!

Try putting some "Hard as nails" on it, a thick coat or two should safely protect it.
