My daughter is 8 months old. She does the army crawl phenominally well. She can get to wherever she wants super fast. But, she doesn't sit up on her own yet. She'll get on her hand and knees and rock and she'll even get on her knees and sit up that way fine. But not on her bottom. She's a petite little thing, only about 15 lbs. It almost seems like she's nervous/scared of sitting. Oh, she also pulls herself up on stuff too. Just wondering if anyone has anything to say about this...

While my girl never seemed scared of sitting, she wasnt able to get herself into a sitting position after rolling around on the floor until I think almost 9mths... I went to get her after a nap and there she was sitting up in bed holding out her arms to be picked up. Ahhh, my little girl getting all big on me! Anyways, your girl sounds like she's a great crawler and that is what she wants to work on right now. No worries!

my son is 8 months old, He doesn't push himself to a sitting position yet either. He' gets around the room, but not in a consistent way, he never got the hang of scooting, so your little girl is a step ahead in that sense. it sounds like she is really just on par developmentally. She may very well be afraid of falling, when I was an infant it took me till I was about 18 months to learn to walk because i was afraid to fall on the wood floors,( so my mom tells me) And I was a tiny little thing too. maybe it just makes Her feel off balance to push up to sitting.

Dont worry she is fine...obviously she doesnt have a mobility or motor skill problem if she is getting around so well...my son never crawled he went from the army crawl to walking....she will go at her own pace...you have nothing to worry about

Getting into the sitting position and sitting up on her own takes a lot of balance. Trust me, she will sit up when she is ready and one day you will be telling her to get off of that duff to help you with something. Enjoy the precious moments you have with your daughter when she is still a baby.

she will probably do it over night. one day she'll just start sitting up.that's how all mine were. although they all go at their own pase. my first walked at 9 mo my second at 13 mo and my daughter at 8mo. It's crazy how different they all can be. Just practice with her, like prop her up with pillows or a boppy. She'll get it! Good luck

Maybe she doesn't like the way a diaper feels on her butt when she is sitting. When my son was at crawling stage he wouldn't go on his hands and knees but stayed on his butt only and pulled himself along with his feet. (it was cute)

Since she is so mobile and even pulling herself up, I wouldn't worry too much about it. She'll start doing it before you know it.
