I would thank the boss for a wonderful job experience working with great people, and especially for all the knowledge and skills learned. Lie if you have to but keep it simple and positive. State the date you will be leaving and the notice you will be giving, and make sure to give at least two weeks notice.

Don't use the resignation letter as a tool to disparage any co-workers, criticize anything or to give any kind of negative commentary. Remember that the resignation letter will become a permanent part of your personnel file, and refrain from saying anything you may regret. The exit interview is the time to give constructive criticism, if asked.

Who says you "have to submit a letter?????"

YOU DON'T. And I wouldn't if I were you. NEVER put this negative stuff in writing, it may come back to haunt you. Telling them is ok, but don't do it in writing! I'm serious. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT!!!! So don't.

Indeed, you should ask the them for a letter of recommendation BEFORE you leave, a written one you can take with you. If you don't like it, throw it out. If you do, then use it.

There is no such thing as "quitting with dignity". Quitting is quitting, there is no dignity in quitting. Learn that is my advice.

If you are not moving (relocating) then I would explain that I am promoting myself @ another employer, the benifits are better? better pay? just say it and do not worry about hurting anybodys feelings, you have to look out for number 1 and thats you.

Also DO NOT sign anything when you leave, I mean Nothing, this is not Russia, If they insist and say you have to, then tell them NO! NO1 and NO! I do not and I will not!
Good luck
