I don't think you should even think about getting them an account on MySpace. Just the other day there was a news thing on about the number of child predators on there, looking for young people.
Let the talk to the cousins on the phone, or if you have to, get one e.mail address that is yours but that has a name everyone agrees on, and let them e.mail the cousins. Free e.mail accounts are offered by Hotmail, Yahoo, and a number of others. They let you choose the name that will be the address. Choose something that suits of all you.
If my kids were that age I wouldn't do a thing to get them on the Internet. I'd have Internet in the living room in case they had homework to do, and other than that I wouldn't encourage their use of the Internet for social reasons at all.
The most recent news report on the horrors of MySpace stated that MySpace claims to be doing what it can about the freaks and perverts on there, but the news people said MySpace has not even done as much as the computer guy who took it upon himself to look for creeps on MySpace.

don't put them on MySpace!!! It is a horrible site that gave my computer several problems, and makes it easier for those creeps and perverts to get to your kids. If you want a safe way for your kids to communicate with them, get them an e-mail address and access to a digital camera. Also give them their phone numbers so they can call. Myspace has so many problems with people being harassed. 82% of my friends on that site have been harassed in someway. They didn't get kidnapped or anything, but it made their lifes way harder. I'm not just some concerned parent saying it's an evil devil site, just a teenager who was seen the all the problems and bad things that can happen with myspaces help.
There is no way to protect against weirdos on myspace except by not putting any of your info, name, pics, address, ect on your page. (meaning it will be totally blank)

i say just lie about their age when you sign up, but i strongly urge that u be there when they are on becuase there are a LOT of strange people out there. Otherwise you can make a myspace for ur kids and have them talk to family that way.
If u don't want weirdos, you can edit you age so that your younger than 16 and myspace will automatically make the profile private where only friends can view the site or you can edit it under account settings

You don't! Myspace is a freakshow for child molesters. You'd be stupid to sign your kids up for that. Just get them and email account with hotmail or yahoo!! Jeez...
